The European part of France exists entirely within one time zone. But add French Guiana, then Tahiti, Réunion, Mayotte, and a bunch of other little islands (including itty-bitty, uninhabited Clipperton Island, south of Baja California; who knew?), and the French Republic suddenly has a dozen time zones.
