Along with paintings, Ekblad also creates bronze sculptures, and assemblages out of concrete and junkyard finds, and has made forays into film, furniture, textiles, ceramics and performance. Her latest endeavor is her new studio and project space, located in a two-story Brutalist building in Oslo’s Frogner neighborhood. Called Villa Hegard after Hans Henrik Hegard, the local businessman who commissioned it, the 1966 structure was designed by Jan Inge Hovig, the architect behind the Arctic Cathedral in Tromsø.
